Our Story

Simpson Air, is one of the first air charter companies in Fort Simpson, Northwest Territories and the oldest established flying business in the Mackenzie Valley. We have proudly been offering air charter service in the Nahanni area since the 1960's.

Ted Grant was captivated in 1976 by the wondrous scenery while being stationed in Fort Simpson with the RCMP, and purchased the company in 1981. Ted and his staff have played host to many tourists from around the world including Britain’s' Prince Andrew, Dr. Werner Neifer, Former Chairman of Mercedes Benz, plus foreign ambassadors, senators and sports personalities.

Simpson Air conveniently operates from the island airstrip in Fort Simpson providing wheeled or float-equipped aircraft for charter services.

Simpson Air is the only company in the area offering a secure, fenced compound, a hanger, full washroom facilities, and free parking.

THE FLEET

At Simpson Air we operate a fleet of reliable and capable multi engine and single engine aircraft that are all maintained to the highest safety standards. Each aircraft is will suited to meet your particular air charter needs. Whether you require fast, comfortable, personal or business travel, or have a large load of cargo to transport, our aircraft are perfect for the job.

Operating on both wheels and floats with off-strip capabilities, our trained and experienced pilots will get the job done safely and professionally.

CESSNA 206

The versatile, go-anywhere Cessna 206 makes up the backbone of our fleet. Our 206 carries a maximum of 5 passengers and features large access cargo doors and removable seatings to accommodate large bulky cargo such as 205L fuel drums.

CESSNA 185

Our 185 can be found on floats for the summer and on wheels or skis in the winter. It can carry a maximum of 3 passengers. Perfect for the private flight seeing tour to Nahanni National Park Reserve or the quick flight to one of the beautiful Dehcho communities.

DEHAVILLAND BEAVER

A rugged and reliable design, impressive cargo area and payload make it the ideal aircraft for wilderness canoe or hunting trips in high elevation and remote mountain areas. Can carry up to 7 passengers and bulky items like inflatable rafts, fuel barrels and construction materials.

PIPER NAVAJO CHIEFTAIN

Our twin engine aircraft can carry up to 9 passengers and with a maximum cruise speed of 180 mph it'll get you to your destination quickly and efficiently.
